The Cabinet Secretary for Education has today [Tuesday 4th June 2024] confirmed that plans to change the school holidays will not happen this Senedd term to give teachers and staff space and time to deliver other reforms. A man has been jailed for raping at a woman in Cardiff city centre. CCTV and mobile phone footage showed Liam Stimpson rape and violently assault the victim during the early hours of Wednesday, December 27, 2023. Stimpson, from Llanrumney, Cardiff, denied four offences including rape and grievous bodily harm but was found guilty by a jury at Cardiff Crown Court on Thursday, May 30. A Flintshire man has been jailed for six years after he was found guilty of raping a teenage girl. Allistair Rhys McHugh of Penymynydd Road, Penyffordd was sentenced at Caernarfon Crown Court last week (Friday, May 31st). The 35-year-old was convicted of the offence last month, which occurred in January 2017. McHugh, aged 28 at the time, pursued the 16-year-old victim over a period of time by sending her multiple messages in an attempt to get her to his home address. Work will soon restart at Swansea’s Copr Bay development with a target to open the new multi-storey car park by the end of the year. Swansea Council has appointed locally based Andrew Scott Ltd to carry out the works.
