Bowel Cancer UK has announced Caroline Trezise, Colorectal Clinical Nurse Specialist, from University Hospital Wales, as a winner of the tenth annual Gary Logue Colorectal Nurse Cancer Awards.  Caroline is the recipient of the award for a nurse nominated by their colleagues. A couple are preparing to “float” their next business, offering new therapeutic treatments in Penarth, backed by a £50,000 micro loan from the Development Bank of Wales. Ryan Chamberlain and Charlotte Gonthier have opened their new business, Rest Space Float Rooms, on Cornerswell Road. They plan to offer customers a safe and nurturing environment where they will be able to relax through floatation therapy, using tanks filled with Epsom salt water and insulated against light and sound. Medtech startup, Corryn Biotechnologies Ltd, has secured a £150,000 investment from British Design Fund, as part of a £550,000 seed funding round that will support the development of its novel wound dressing technology, designed for the treatment of chronic and complex wounds. Cardiff Crown Court has heard of the misery that Paul Atkinson caused residents after they agreed for him to undertake building work and home improvements at their properties. In a case brought by Bridgend County Borough Council, Atkinson, of Woodlands Avenue, Porthcawl, was charged with offences under the Fraud Act 2006 and the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. The Shared Regulatory Services then investigated Atkinson’s trading practices, and it soon became apparent that he engaged in misleading and fraudulent trading practices in his dealings with customers. Swansea Council has announced an immediate halt to work on the proposed active travel route through Sketty and Uplands. The proposed active travel network expansion, which has been under discussion with residents and businesses, aims to provide dedicated cycling lanes and improved pedestrian and crossing facilities along Walter Road and Sketty Road. It would also see general upgrades to key public areas in Uplands.
