National housebuilder Redrow Homes is pleased to announce the opening of the first show home at their Cae St Fagans development on June 16th. To add to the excitement of the weekend there will also be a few special guests in attendance.

On Saturday 16thJune and Sunday 17thof June, from 11am to 4pm, Great British Bake Off favourites Val Stone and Louise Williams will be there with a selection of beautiful bakes and to pass on their top tips to those who attend. They will also be joined by Paul Jagger on Saturday 16thof June who will be sharing some of his own sweet treats. The trio will be showcasing some unique cupcake recipes for visitors to indulge in.

All proceeds raised over the weekend will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Society, so visitors can rest assured that any over-indulgence of cake will be for a good cause!

Situated on the outskirts of the idyllic village of St Fagans,Cae St Fagans is part of the first phase of Plasdŵr, a new sustainable community being created in north Cardiff over the next ten to 12 years bordering Radyr, Fairwater, Pentrebane and St Fagans.

Taking inspiration from the garden city movement founded on the principles of “fresh air, sunlight, breathing room and playing room”, Plasdŵr will be a “garden city for the 21stcentury” comprising up to 40% green space and distinct areas of individual character, a main district centre and three smaller centres with shops, cafes, bars, restaurants and offices. It will include up to 7,000 homes of different types and tenures, leisure, health and community facilities, four primary schools and a secondary school.

The Cae St Fagans development will offer a range ofexceptional two, three and four-bedroom family homes andwith the bustling capital city of Cardiff just four miles away, it’s in an ideal location for commuters and those looking to socialise.

As well as boasting excellent transport links, the surrounding areahas a selection of local amenities and is within easy reach to several reputable schools, also making it a perfect choice for those who prefer to stay closer to home.

Cheryl George, Alzheimer’s Society Cymru Community fundraiser for South Wales, said:

“We are so grateful for Redrow’s contribution towards the charity. We’re facing an incredible challenge as one person every three minutes develops dementia and there is no cure. The support from companies such as Redrow means that we can be there when we are needed. The weekend is set to be a fantastic time for all ages to enjoy and the fact it will help raise much needed funds for people living with dementia is great. We are very excited to see what cupcakes the Bake Off team will be bringing along!”

Beverly Wookey, Sales Director of Redrow South Wales, said:

“We are really looking forward to seeing the Bake Off team in action at our show home opening. We have previously had Val and Louise visit a few of the developments and it resulted in a fantastic day for all involved. Coupled with the weekends proceeds being donated to such a worthy cause, it really won’t be a day to miss!”
