Spring Clean Cymru has officially come to an end, and communities across Caerphilly have once again shown their pride in their local area by coming together to tackle litter.
Throughout the campaign, a total of 98 registered litter‑picking activities took place across the county borough, supported by 180 participants who generously gave their time to make a visible difference to their neighbourhoods.
Together, volunteers contributed 275 volunteer hours, collecting 20 bags of recycling and an impressive 292 bags of waste, helping to improve local streets, parks and green spaces for residents and wildlife alike.
The Council worked alongside environmental charity Keep Wales Tidy to support Spring Clean Cymru and encourage residents, community groups, schools and businesses to take positive action during the national campaign.
Councillor Chris Morgan, Cabinet Member for Waste and Recycling said: “We are extremely grateful to everyone who took part in Spring Clean Cymru this year. The results speak for themselves – from the number of activities held to the sheer amount of waste collected, it’s clear that people care deeply about their local environment.
“Events like Spring Clean Cymru not only help keep Caerphilly cleaner and greener, they also bring communities together and highlight the difference we can all make when we work collectively.”
Spring Clean Cymru is Keep Wales Tidy’s annual call to action, inspiring people across Wales to take simple, practical steps to care for the places where they live. Litter remains a significant challenge, costing Wales an estimated £70 million each year to clean up and causing harm to wildlife and local environments.

Every bag of litter collected and every hour volunteered makes a real difference, showing the impact we can have when we work together to care for our local environment.”
Although Spring Clean Cymru has now finished for this year, residents are encouraged to continue taking action all year round by reporting litter, disposing of waste responsibly and working together to help keep Caerphilly tidy.
