Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan have unveiled their latest selection of books, and are delighted to welcome Cardiff author Amy Lloyd, who joins the Book Club with her gripping psychological debut novel The Innocent Wife.

Lloyds’s writing combines her fascination with true crime and her passion for fiction and “it’sbeen deservedly praised by no less than Jack Reacher author Lee Child. Judy and I can only add our own massive approval” praises Richard.

[aoa id=”1″]Lloyd studied English and Creative writing at Cardiff Metropolitan University, where she started to plot the thrilling story which tells the tale of a relationship between a man convicted of murdering a young girl and the woman who is battling to get him freed. Lloyd’s creationsoon went on to win the Daily Mail First Novel competition in 2016 and grew to become The Innocent Wife.[/aoa]

‘It’s amazing to have been selected for the Richard and Judy book club. I walk past the WHSmith in Cardiff every day and can’t wait to see The Innocent Wife displayed in the store with all the other authors who have been chosen. When I was studying Creative Writing in Cardiff Metropolitan University I started to plan the book that would become The Innocent Wife but I couldn’t have imagined all that has come from it. Wales has so many writers who I admire and Cardiff and its writing scene have fostered me creatively. I’m very proud to seemy book on the shelves in my home city.’ comments Lloyd.

Richard and Judy also announce today that customers can enjoy even more reading recommendations as the duo have increased the number of campaigns available throughout the year in their renowned Book Club, exclusive to WHSmith. The Richard and Judy Book Club will now feature five campaigns annually, with six titles available in each selection, providing readers with additional novel recommendations, reviews, and the much-loved, insightful and entertaining podcast interviews with the authors.

Lloyd’s debut novel joins the collection of six Book Club titles, which comprises five debut authors, including the highly acclaimed US actor and screenwriter, Tom Hanks.

The Book Club launches with yet another series of podcasts, providing a fantastic introduction to all of the recommended titles as well as a unique insight into the working minds of the authors, including Amy Lloyd, and her writing process. And, for every purchaser who buys their Book Club copy from WHSmith, they will enjoy an exclusive special edition version, filled with added bonus content, including book club discussion points, author Q&As and more recommended reads.
