A new vet practice offering affordable care for dogs is set to open at Cardiff Dogs Home.

The Rescue Hotel Charity and charity ambassador, Sam Warburton, will officially launch the new Health Centre on Saturday 21st August.

The Rescue Hotel Health Centre sees Cardiff Dogs Home team up with the Rescue Hotel Charity, and vet Jamie Allen to deliver the new service.

Jamie Allen, The Rescue Hotel Health Centre vet, said: “The Rescue Hotel Health Centre was born out of a desire to improve the health and welfare of the less fortunate dogs in Wales and the difficulties that many people are encountering with access to main stream veterinary practices.”

The practice aims to keep prices affordable so people have an opportunity to get treatment for their dogs which they otherwise might not be able to have, and are pitched below mainstream vet practices.

Cabinet Member for Clean Streets, Recycling and Environment, Councillor Michael Michael, said: “I’m delighted to see this joint venture between Cardiff Dogs Home, The Rescue Hotel Charity and Jamie open up for Cardiff residents. “Over the past 18 months we’ve seen an increase in pet ownership as we’re spending more time at home, so it is more important than ever that dog owners have access to high quality and affordable services for their pets.”

Sam Warburton, former Wales and British Lions captain and charity ambassador, said: “Another huge step taken by The Rescue Hotel & Cardiff dogs home to continue to help not just the kennel dogs, but all dogs who require the help they need. The affordable Vet practise is another example of the amazing work the charity is providing. Thanks so much to everybody who has supported the scheme.”

The Rescue Hotel Health Centre is located at Cardiff Dogs Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, Cardiff, CF11 8JQ.
