Giving at Christmas has taken on new meaning after a mystery man from Cardiff celebrated winning a staggering £173,000 jackpot at his local Grosvenor Casino before splitting it with his friend.

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, was enjoying a festive night out with his mate at Grosvenor Casino Cardiff in the days leading up to Christmas when he joked about what it would be like to win a big cash prize and what he would do with the money.

After trying his hand at Three Card Poker, the game which sees players go up against the dealer in several betting rounds, the winner saw his dreams become a reality when he became £173,000 richer with a royal flush of spades.

Filled with the festive spirit, the winner decided to split his winnings in half with his friend who joined him at the casino on that lucky night out and plans to pay off his wife’s car as well as treat himself to a Rolex watch.

Mark Stothard, General Manager at Grosvenor Casino Cardiff, said: “A huge congratulations to our lucky winner who bagged the jackpot prize right before Christmas. The atmosphere is always electric in our casino at this time of year, so this win was the icing on the festive cake. It’s great to see how our jackpots can create life changing moments like this and we cannot wait to see him don his new watch the next time he visits the casino.”
