Cardiff’s newest bar, the Head of Steam – a firm favourite for beer and food lovers alike – is now open to the public just in time for the Rugby Internationals.

Located just minutes from the Principality Stadium, on Church Street, the venue is ideally located for pre or post match food and drinks for all the family.

The new bar opened exclusively to VIP’s on Monday (29th October) with guests invited to sample the menu and over 45 beers from cask and keg lines. Jon Jenkins, from this year’s Great British Bake Off, also joined the party, bringing with him a special selection of unique beer-infused, Head of Steam branded cupcakes, made with Tooth & Claw brewery’s Breakfast Stout.

    Jon said:

“It’s great to see a new pub in Cardiff city centre that doesn’t add unnecessary bells and whistles. What we have here is a good pub that serves real food and real beer, as well as a sense of local pride. I have to admit, I did sample some of the desserts and they get my seal of approval.”

Commenting on the success of the Cardiff launch, Chris Soley, Chief Executive at Hartlepool-based Cameron’s Brewery, which owns The Head of Steam, said:

“We are thrilled to have received such positive feedback from the public so far. Jon Jenkins visiting to sample our dessert menu was fantastic, and he really got in the spirit of things by bringing along his own beer-infused cakes.

“We expect some of the local breweries that we host here, including, Bluestone Brewery, The Treforrest Brewery and Vog Brewery to be popular with visitors as the city fills with tourists during the Rugby Internationals. Our wide array of food, in particular the burgers and pizzas have gone down well, especially the vegetarian options!”

“Now the pub is officially open, we are excited to welcome everyone looking to sample the menu or have their first taste of our Besler beer flights.”

The Head of Steam offers CAMRA members a discount on cask ales whilst beer sommeliers are on hand to share their expert advice. As a verified venue on the Untappd social media app, customers can also discover which guest brews are on before they get to the bar.

There is also a wide choice of wines, cocktails and spirits available and a food menu featuring pub favourites, like the Full Head of Steam Burger, which includes two 4oz beef and chilli burgers infused with Camerons Brewery’s Röad Crew beer, and a children’s menu with colouring sheet is also available.
