Cardiff-based CatSci, a fast growing, adaptable and award-winning contract research organisation (CRO), is continuing its strategic £1.3 million expansion plan with the appointment of Dr Jenny Wallis and Dr João Madeira as Business Development Managers.

[aoa id=”1″]These newly created roles will enable CatSci to continue its growth across global markets. Both Jenny and João will focus on building long-term relationships with prospective and current customers. This strategy is a key facet of CatSci’s uniquely consultative approach to addressing process chemistry demands that critically support drug discovery and development.[/aoa]

Both bring a wealth of complementary experience to the role, with a strong grounding in business development and academia. Jenny has a background in chemistry, having completed an EngD in the synthesis and application of fluorescent materials before working in business development at High Force Research, a chemical development CRO. After completing a PhD in Pharmacy from the University of Nottingham that was industrially funded by AstraZeneca/MedImmune Cambridge, João worked as an International Business Development Manager at the pharmaceutical consultancy Inpharmation.

The creation of these two new roles is in response to the increasing global demand for CatSci’s end-to-end process chemistry services. As part of CatSci’s strategic £1.3million development plan, the organisation is mid-way through an ambitious three-year expansion plan. Accordingly, CatSci is recruiting 16 new members of staff and expanding its laboratory facilities over the course of these three years.

Simon Tyler, COO of CatSci, said: “I am delighted to welcome both Jenny and João to our growing commercial team at CatSci. Their contribution will underpin the continued success and sustainability of CatSci as we take the next important step in our global journey.’’

Jenny said: “I am looking forward to working with such a fantastic commercial and technical team. My role at CatSci will provide me with the opportunity to support the chemical development of ground-breaking therapeutics that will make a difference to people’s lives, which is something I am incredibly excited about.”

João said: “I am very pleased to be joining CatSci at this exciting time for the company. I look forward to working with a very talented team of scientists to deliver on our global customers’ drug discovery and development needs and enable them to bring innovative therapeutics to patients.”
