Last week, six welsh schools were visited by the Power of Muzik – an innovative new programme created to empower and inspire young people through music education.

    Cantonian School

Created by CeCe Sammy, celebrity vocal coach and mentor to rising stars of The X Factor and The Voice, the Power of Muzik uses music therapy techniques and powerful messaging within music to educate and spread positive advice to young people going through personal challenges, mental health issues and bullying.

The programme sees a collective of the UK’s emerging music artists visit schools up and down the country, performing a selection of motivational and inspiring pop songs – including new and original material – to encourage open and honest conversation amongst young people.

Asher Knight, a rising music star who experienced physical and emotional bullying first hand, was joined by former X Factor contestant, Luena Martinez.

Exciting young artist Huw Roberts, who made it to the final of BBC talent show Let It Shine in 2017 also joined this leg of the tour along with Rich Scholes, the 20 year old guitarist and singer of upcoming new UK band ‘boy band’ The Shades.

Each session ended with the artists sharing their own personal experiences and struggles, demonstrating how each overcame adversity and conquered their fears through the power of music. A Q&A session followed.

    CeCe commented:

“With mental health and bullying common issues for today’s young people, the Power of Muzik actively seeks to encourage open conversation about these topics so they don’t feel along, in turn building confidence amongst the nation’s youth. The Power of Muzik collective, including Denis, Asher and Luena, are inspiring, brave young people and I’m extremely proud to have them on the tour. You can really sense that the students walk away from the concerts with a more positive and optimistic outlook and energy”.
