Ceredigion Museum in Aberystwyth is appealing for seaside holiday photographs for a new exhibition, which opens next month, celebrating the nation’s relationship with the seaside.

Do you like to be beside the seaside? Do you like to stroll along the prom, surf the waves, ride a donkey, eat ice-cream and negotiate a deck chair? Were you a bathing beauty or a knobbly knees winner?

Ceredigion Museum will be welcoming visitors through its doors to a 2018, Year of the Sea exhibition celebrating the story of the county’s seaside heritage, with objects selected from the museum collection.

‘Making a Splash’ opens on Friday, July 13 and runs until Saturday, October 13.

Before the advent of affordable package holidays abroad, the promise of sun and sand meant a trip to the seaside. The museum hopes that the exhibition will generate nostalgia and remind visitors of their own memories of the seaside holiday.

Andrea DeRome, the museum’s collections access officer, said:

“We need your photographs of trips to the seaside to form an integral part of the exhibition. We look forward to hearing from you.”

If you feel that you’d like to take part, contact Andrea DeRome, [email protected], or phone the museum on Tel: 01970 633088.
