Ceredigion Sports Clubs benefit from over £126,000 in grants

Sporting clubs and organisations in Ceredigion have benefitted from receiving over £126,000 in funding for 2017/18 through Development grants and Community Chest grants awarded by Sports Wales and delivered by Ceredigion Actif.

Community Chest offers grants of up to £1,500 for activities that encourage people to become more active. The grant can also be used to pay for volunteer training and coach education, marketing, club set up costs and new equipment.

Clubs and organisations can also apply for up to £25,000 from the Sport Wales Development Grant scheme for activities that can help increase participation and improve standards of performance in sport. The grant will pay for large items of equipment and development.

Councillor Catrin Miles, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Learning Services and Lifelong Learning said:

“Despite Ceredigion having one of the smallest development teams across Wales, our county has been one of the most proactive in getting grant funding down to grassroots sports clubs. Ceredigion Actif work extremely hard to be a support network for the various sporting clubs. So if your club is already established or just starting out, the team can offer advice and information, especially about what funding your club may benefit from.”

Contact Steven Jones on 01970 633 587 or [email protected] to discuss how Ceredigion Actif can help your club. The Ceredigion Community Chest Panel meet throughout the year to make decisions on the applications. The next closing date is 17 January 2019 and more information is available on Ceredigion Actif’s website: http://www.ceredigionactif.org.uk/funding.html.
