Charms of Wales: Not in the Guidebooks

When you’re visiting Wales, you want to go to the lesser-known places, not the typical tourist destinations. If you like traveling to places that are not as crowded as typical hotspots, then you’re going to love these wonders of Wales.

Apart from the wonders, Wales has those amazing blends of tradition and modern culture. There are great spots for people looking for a bit of entertainment and excitement, also a bit of thrill, and if that’s what you’re looking for, take a look at this 5 pounds deposit casino list.

Llangollen Town

It’s a town located in Dee Valley, and it’s known for its cultural heritage. The Welsh cottages are lined up the streets, and there are a lot of other things you can see in Llangollen. It’s something worth taking a trip to Wales:

  • Steam railway experience: Just do a Google search for Llangollen Railway, and you’ll see that there’s a steam railway here that gives you that nostalgic feel on the Welsh countryside. It’s a steam locomotive, there are few still running in the world.
  • Canal boating adventures: You can rent a narrowboat or even take a leisure cruise through the canal to see the aqueducts and the beautiful landscapes. The waters are very calm, and everything around you is just beautiful when you’re in that boat.
  • Eisteddfod: International Musical Eisteddfod, is a cultural festival known to the world where artists and other performers across the world gather to celebrate culture, music, and dance.

Llanddwyn Island

It’s right off the coast of Anglesey, the island, more of a peninsula actually, is a sanctuary around which myths and legends revolve. You can see the ruins of a medieval church, a lighthouse, and many cottages there. It’s connected to the mainland by a sandy road.

If you’re looking for true love, then you should visit the island, because the legend about St Dwynwen says that she went to the island to pray for love, because she wanted true love after her previous love affair failed.

You can even go to the wishing well to wish for some love or romance-related wishes. This is St Dwynwen’s Well, and some legends say it can heal troubled relationships and help people find true love.

It’s said that Dwynwen’s father promised her a hand in marriage, but she was in love with Maelon, a prince. She prayed to save her love, and an angel answered the prayer by turning Maelon into ice. She made three more wishes after that, and one of them was for her to grant wishes to true lovers.

Pistyll Rhaeadr

It’s in the Berwyn Mountains, the tallest waterfall. It’s probably one of the best hiking experiences in the world. Maybe it’s not a hiking experience exactly, but it’s a walk through nature and following trails to different viewpoints to see the falls.

A place where you can find solace and spiritually rejuvenate yourself, Pistyll Rhaeadr offers sanctuary to those who want to reflect and meditate. Also, it’s a paradise for photographers with light, water, and the rest of nature perfectly coming together.

When you go there, you’re not like in all the other destinations or trails where there are groups of people going where you’re going, but, you’re a bit secluded, and you can enjoy a more natural path.

Aberystwyth Cliff Railway

Enjoy the Cardigan Bay panorama from the railway, but you can also do other things. Take a look at the unique attractions such as the Camera Obscura where you can see the bay and the town below.

Don’t forget to go to the museum. The museum highlights the importance of this transportation system type in the Victorian era. As a visitor, you can learn about the evolution of this railway and how it connects Aberystwyth to the summit of Constitution Hill.

Pembrokeshire Coast Path

If you’re a fan of wildlife, cliffs, and beaches, you should take this very long path. There are coves, ancient ruins, and there are villages that are beautiful to see and visit. It’s a great hiking trail, and the experience you’ll have during the walk is unforgettable.

As far as hobbies go, if you’re a forager, you might enjoy this coastline because you can forage a lot of things, from shellfish to different plants you can eat. So, instead of just walking on the coastline, you’ll also be collecting things you can eat or just keep as souvenirs.

Conclusion

Wales is full of beautiful scenery and heritage sites. It offers amazing experiences to lovers of nature and cultural history. But, there are also a lot of modern things you can do in Wales, we’re sure if you search for it online, you’ll find other amazing stuff like pub crawls, quizzes, etc.
