Cardiff Castle’s biggest ever summer concert series got underway in style on Saturday as Dutch house music sensation Chris Stussy headlined the opening night of TK Maxx presents Depot Live at Cardiff Castle 2026.
Despite wet weather conditions, thousands of music fans packed into the historic city centre venue for an eight-and-a-half-hour celebration of house music, with the acclaimed DJ delivering a headline set that transformed the castle grounds into a giant open-air dancefloor.
The event marked the beginning of what organisers describe as the biggest ever summer of live music at Cardiff Castle, featuring a record-breaking 24 headline shows across June, July and August.
Joining Chris Stussy on the opening night line-up were a host of leading names from the electronic music scene, including Chloé Caillet, L.P.Rhythm, Locklead, Lauren Lo Sung and Lewis Taylor.
The diverse programme of DJs and multi-instrumentalists kept the capacity crowd entertained throughout the day and into the evening, proving that the rain was no match for Cardiff’s appetite for live music.
The concert series continues on Thursday, June 11, when legendary broadcaster and DJ Pete Tong brings his hugely popular Ibiza Classics show to the Welsh capital, alongside support from Mousse T. and K-Klass.
This year’s programme features an impressive line-up of international artists spanning multiple genres, including MIKA, Katy Perry, Bastille, Richard Ashcroft, David Byrne, Biffy Clyro, The Streets, Jimmy Eat World and Hollywood Vampires.
Other highlights include performances from Garbage and Skunk Anansie, McFly, Billy Ocean, David Gray, Self Esteem, The Wombats and Two Door Cinema Club.
With the opening night now complete, Cardiff Castle is set for another packed summer as tens of thousands of music fans descend on the Welsh capital for one of the UK’s largest outdoor concert programmes.
