‘I’m and addict and this is why I does what I does’ – that is what a Swansea drug dealer said when he was caught red handed dealing drugs in Swansea City Centre on a busy Saturday night.

Pc Howarth and a colleague were on foot patrol in Wind Street at 9pm on Saturday, March 8, when they spotted Keiron David acting suspiciously.

When the officers approached him and told him he would be searched, he tried to run away but was detained shortly after.

Small bags of white powder which turned out to be cocaine fell from Keiron David’s underwear as he was being searched.

“I’m an addict – this is why I does what I does,” he said, trying to claim it was for personal use.

South Wales Police obtained a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act to search his home address, and officers located a small bag of cocaine and digital scales. They also found evidence of drug dealing on his phone.

Keiron David, of 41, Eaton Road, Swansea, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine, possessing cocaine with intent to supply and possessing cocaine. He was jailed at Swansea Crown Court for two years and eight months on Wednesday, May 14.

Officer in the case, Pc Howarth, said:

“Our officers are patrolling Swansea’s busy town centre day and night to ensure it is safe for revellers. Keiron David was drug dealing in plain sight and with total disregard. As police officers we know who and what we are looking for and it was only a matter of time before he was caught. So now he will spend time in prison where he can reflect on the choices he has made.”
