Emergency services are at the scene of a collision in Cardiff tonight, with part of Cowbridge Road East in Canton currently closed.

South Wales Police has confirmed the road is shut between Egerton Street and Radnor Road while officers deal with the incident.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible due to expected disruption.

In a statement shared on social media, South Wales Police said: “We’re at the scene of a collision on Cowbridge Road East in Canton.

“The road is currently closed between Egerton Street and Radnor Road.

“Please avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. Thank you for your patience.”

No further details about the collision or any injuries have been confirmed at this stage.

Cowbridge Road East is one of the main routes through Canton and regularly sees heavy traffic, particularly during the evening. Drivers travelling through west Cardiff are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys.
