Daniel,26, from Cardiff has been named as the winner of an award from The King’s Trust after overcoming barriers to turn his passion for creativity into a thriving business.
The King’s Trust and TK Maxx Awards recognise young people who have succeeded against the odds, improved their chances in life and had a positive impact on their local community. Daniel scooped the NatWest Enterprise Award which recognises a young person who has overcome barriers to create their own sustainable business or social enterprise.
After graduating with a degree in film, Daniel found himself struggling to break into the creative industries. With the rising cost of living and stiff competition for entry-level roles, he juggled a string of jobs from supply teaching to food delivery to stay afloat.
Daniel had long dreamed of starting a creative business, but the journey towards that dream felt uncertain. Things began to shift after joining the Enterprise programme with The King’s Trust.
With support from mentors and a grant to get started, Daniel launched 66 Days, a production company focused on story-led, authentic content.
Today, 66 Days is an award-winning company working with national brands and organisations, creating campaigns, promotional films, and social-first content that helps clients connect with their audiences. The business has earned international attention, including BBC coverage for Daniel’s short film Benighted, which reached over 800,000 views on YouTube.
In the last year, Daniel’s work has taken him to Tanzania, Australia, China, Singapore, Paris, and the Arctic Circle.
“Travelling was something I used to dream about. I’d never even had the chance to go interrailing. Now I’ve been paid to film in some of the most incredible places on earth. I still have to remind myself that it’s real.”
Daniel’s also passionate about helping others take their first steps into business.
“To give back and help others starting out has been a big passion of mine. I’ve had the chance to run workshops and mentor young people who are just beginning their entrepreneurial journeys.”
“None of this would’ve been possible without the support I received from The King’s Trust. They helped me take what was in my head and turn it into something real. I used to feel lost but now I have clarity, direction, and something that’s truly mine
On winning the NatWest Enterprise Award, Daniel said: “I’m incredibly honoured to win this award. Habits really do change you and it took 66 days to form mine. It’s okay to try and fail – just as long as you’re trying.”
Kim Blake from NatWest presented Daniel with his award, she said: “We would like to offer our congratulations to Daniel on this well-deserved award. His determination in overcoming barriers to build a sustainable business is inspiring, and we would like to wish him every success as he continues to grow, innovate, and make a lasting positive impact in the years ahead.”
Now Daniel is in with a chance to become a National King’s Trust Award winner at a very special event in May 2026. A King’s Trust Celebration in partnership with TK Maxx will spotlight winners from across the UK. Held at the iconic Royal Albert Hall, this special evening will bring music, comedy, awards, and unforgettable performances together. The night will celebrate the courage, creativity, and achievements of young people supported by The King’s Trust in the UK and around the world.
