Author and medical broadcaster Dr Hilary Jones GP has been announced as host of St John Cymru’s Centenary Charity Ball.

Dr Hilary’s extensive and varied medical career has seen him working as a single-handed medical officer on Tristan to Cunha, the most isolated inhabited Island in the world, and as a troubleshooting medic for the oil industry in Shetland.

Described as the U.K.’s most well-known and trusted GP, Dr Hilary and his TV broadcasts have seen him cover breaking medical news stories not just at home but internationally.

With regular appearances on Steve Wright’s radio 2 show, Dr Hilary has also written a column for Fabulous magazine (now the Sun on Sunday) for over 25 years.

Dr Hilary is still working as a GP and practising aesthetic medicine and remains a passionate advocate of medical education for all and exercise and humour as the best medicine of all.

Centenary Appeal Manager Samantha Coles said:

“We’re so excited Dr Hilary is joining us for our centenary celebrations.

“He’s a true advocate and believer in first aid, and has been seen on TV and in print on many occasions promoting its importance, not to mention encouraging the public to learn lifesaving vital first aid skills.

“It was great to see him recently on Loose Women where he spoke about choking and the importance of knowing what to do and having the confidence to act in an emergency,” she added.

The ball, taking place at St Fagans on Friday 12th October will celebrate the centenary of Wales’ leading first aid charity and promises to be entertaining, informative and heartwarming.

Tickets for this unmissable event are selling fast. Sponsors include Sigma 3 Kitchens and South Wales based illustration and design company, Jessica Draws to name a few.
