A section of the M4 motorway has been temporarily closed westbound near Junction 24 (Coldra) following a vehicle fire this afternoon (April 24).

Traffic Wales confirmed the incident occurred at around 3:35pm, with emergency services currently en route to the scene.

The westbound carriageway has been closed to allow for recovery and to ensure the safety of those involved, as well as attending crews.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area if possible and to expect delays on approach while the incident is dealt with.

There is currently no confirmation on how long the closure will remain in place.

Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
