Entries are now open for the Principality Cardiff Half Marathon 2024 and runners are encouraged to sign up quickly to avoid disappointment.

All 5,000 discounted early bird entries were snapped up by keen pre-registrants in just a matter of hours this morning, meaning the race is now on to secure a spot for 2024.

The 21st edition of the event will take place on Sunday 6 October next year and Run 4 Wales anticipates this will be the earliest ever sell-out in the race’s history.

The event has completely sold out for the past six years, so it’s important participants act swiftly to secure their spot for the general entry price of £49.

However, the first 100 runners wishing to run for the Principality Cardiff Half’s lead charity, NSPCC, can enter for £1 when pledging to fundraise £300 for the cause.

Matt Newman, CEO of the race’s organisers, Run 4 Wales, said: “The Principality Cardiff Half Marathon has grown from 1,500 runners taking part when it was founded in 2003, to 27,500 runners this year. We’re expecting an even higher demand for next year’s race taking in the iconic sights in the Welsh capital, especially with runners from overseas looking to complete the SuperHalfs series.”

The Principality Cardiff Half has become one of Europe’s largest half marathons and is a part of the SuperHalfs – an international series of half marathons including races in Lisbon, Prague, Copenhagen, Valencia and Berlin.

Demand from overseas runners taking part has grown to unprecedented levels – with more than 20,000 people now on a journey to complete all races in the series.

Principality Building Society will remain as the headline sponsor, having extended their initial one-year partnership with Run 4 Wales.
