Family funday to return to Wrexham city centre this half term

Football fanatics and sport enthusiasts can kick off their May half-term with the return of a well-loved Family Funday taking place in Wrexham.
Xplore! Science Discovery Centre is staging the full-day event at Queen’s Square, which will see local organisations come together to offer a range of free amusements to promote sport-based play in the community.
Pro-Skill Soccer will bring its popular inflatable penalty shootout and dart board to the city on Saturday 25 May, as well as activities provided by Wrexham Museum, which is currently developing the Football Museum for Wales at its site on Regent Street.
Made possible through the Shared Prosperity Fund, the Funday will also feature a seven-metre climbing wall, go-karting, and a peddle-powered Scalextric track, amongst other activities running from 11am – 5pm.
Xplore!’s community fundraising and outreach coordinator Clair Griffiths said: “After a successful Funday in October, we’re excited to kick off the May half-term with an event in an even bigger space.
“One of the most common misconceptions we face is that science is all about complicated theories and processes, so we want to use the occasion as an opportunity to show it can be interactive, creative, and a huge part of our everyday lives.
“Our primary aim is to make an impact in our community so we hope to spark curiosity and encourage engagement from our visitors, and it’s a bonus that we can involve other local organisations.”
In addition, activities for all abilities, such as chair yoga and dance, interactive performances from comedy walkabout act The Dustbusters, and face painting will be available throughout the day.
Attendees can also purchase half-price pizzas from Xplore!’s site on Henblas Street, as well as receive 50 per cent off admissions to the centre to see its 80-plus exhibits during the half-term holiday.
Clair added: “It’s an exciting time for us, with plans currently underway to develop our upstairs area, as well as continuously bringing new displays and live shows to our downstairs space.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors to Wrexham’s high street and into our centre across the break.”
