    Family pay tribute after 80 year old dies following A48 crash

    South Wales Police is continuing to investigate a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on A48, at 12:22pm on May 6, 2026.

    The collision occurred on the A48 Margam Road between Groeswen Park and the junction with Rhanallt Street and involved four vehicles: a Vauxhall Agila, Citroen Picasso, Rover 45 and a MG3.

    The driver of the Vauxhall Agila was taken to hospital but later died as a result of in his injuries. We can confirm his name is Brian William Bodenham, aged 80, from Margam.

    His family have issued the following tribute:

    “Brian peacefully passed away on the 18th of May 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Brian the dearly beloved husband of the late Catherine. Much loved Dad of Gary and Darren, dear father-in-law of Amanda and Joanne, cherished grandfather of Joseph, Hollie, Olivia and a loving brother of Valerie. Brian will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. We would ask for privacy at this time, while we try to deal with our loss, and would ask people not to speculate about the accident while the investigation is ongoing.”

    The Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for any witnesses who saw the collision, anyone with any dash-cam footage, or anyone who saw the manner in which the cars were being driven before the collision to contact them on 101, quoting reference 2600140685.
