Feast of entertainment set to arrive in St Donats Castle this June

Beyond the Border’s 25th Birthday Barnstormer is a month away and some special guest performers have been added to the packed weekend celebrations at St Donats Castle on 9 and 10 June including Chocolat and Rune books author Joanne Harris and family entertainers The Flying Seagulls.

Beyond the Border’s Birthday Barnstormer will be a feast of entertainment across 5 venues featuring fables and myths, music and magic, love stories and laughter, fun and games for children and fairy tales for grown-ups, all in the beautiful grounds of St Donats Castle by the sea.

Beyond the Border Artistic Director, David Ambrose said,

“This year we celebrate our 25th Birthday and to make this a special celebration we’re going for a more intimate feel this year, one that we hope will make everyone who attends feel like specially invited guests at a rather wonderful birthday party!”

Author of Chocolate and the Rune series of books, Joanne Harris is author of 15 bestselling novels, published in 50 countries, with 50 million copies sold worldwide.  Her next book, The Testament of Loki is out on 17 May. Joanne Harris will be talking about her latest work with author and journalist Erica Wagner on Sunday 10 June.

Family entertainers The Flying Seagulls will be bringing their tent and troupe of clowns, circus performers and musicians to the Birthday Barnstormer. Founded by entertainer Ash Perrin in 2007, the Flying Seagulls aim to spread love, light and laughter to hospitals, orphanages and refugee camps around the world, and were recently acknowledged on BBC3 shorts.

Other entertainment guaranteed to appeal to all the family includes a set of classic Fairy Tales in The Moondance Hall, told by leading UK Storyteller Ben Haggarty; and a rumbustious Sunday afternoon show on the open-air stage by one of Wales’ top story and music duos Daniel Morden and fiddle player Oli Wilson Dickson.

Meanwhile, specially for younger children there’s the Little Tent featuring storytelling and theatre for 5 to 7 year-olds with Flossy & Boo; and acclaimed author and performer Sally Pomme Clayton with her latest show ‘The King With Dirty Feet’.
