A large-scale fire in Treharris prompted a major emergency response on Sunday afternoon, with residents urged to keep their windows and doors closed while crews tackled the blaze.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS) was called to Victoria Street, Treharris, at 3.21pm on Sunday, 31 May, following reports of a fire in the garden area of a property.
Multiple fire crews attended the incident, including firefighters from Aberbargoed, Pontypridd, Merthyr Tydfil, Caerphilly and Maindee. Three water bowsers were also deployed to support operations at the scene.
As firefighters worked to contain the blaze, residents living in Victoria Street and surrounding areas were advised to keep all windows and doors shut as a precaution. Members of the public were also asked to avoid the area to allow emergency services to work safely.
In an update issued later on Sunday evening, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident had been successfully dealt with.
A spokesperson for the service said: “The fire in Victoria Street, Treharris has now been dealt with.
“Thank you to our crews, our emergency responder partners, the local authority, Natural Resources Wales and to all those in the local community who supported us today.”
No information has been released regarding the cause of the fire or whether any injuries were reported.
