Flooded roads reopen across Swansea as clean up continues

Several roads in Swansea have reopened after flooding caused disruption across the city, with highways teams continuing work in a small number of areas today Tuesday.

Swansea Council confirmed that Ynys y Mond Road in Clydach has now reopened after water levels dropped. Parts of the A4067 have also partially reopened, with outbound lanes between Castle Bingo and the Ynysforgan roundabout now back in use. The inbound lane from the M4 was not affected by flooding.

However, Cwmbwrla roundabout remains closed today as pumping equipment continues to remove a large volume of water. The council has warned motorists to plan ahead and use alternative routes while work continues to make the area safe.

The update follows around two inches of rain falling overnight, which led to localised flooding across several parts of Swansea. At the height of the disruption, roads closed due to rising river levels included Ynyspenllwch Road and Ynys y Mond Road in Clydach, Samlet Road on the A48, and the A4067 outbound towards Ynysforgan.

Llandewi Corner at Scurlage also remains closed for the time being because of flooding.

The council has urged drivers to continue taking care when travelling, particularly in areas where water levels may still be high or where road conditions could change.

Anyone needing to report a highways issue today can contact Swansea Council’s highways team on 01792 841657.
