Swansea is once again coming together to spread some festive cheer to people in need at a very special Christmas event.

JR Events and Catering, with support from Swansea Council, is throwing open the doors of the Brangwyn Hall on Tuesday December 5 to dish up a free two-course Christmas dinner for people in Swansea who are vulnerable, feel isolated or may be homeless.

Lasting from noon until 3pm, the Together at Christmas event will also see representatives from a range of services and charities providing information on assistance available.

It comes as more support than ever is in place in Swansea to help the homeless or anyone at risk of becoming homeless during the winter months.

Swansea Council is continuing to work very closely with its partners to ensure that no one who needs or wants a bed or accommodation in Swansea will be without this winter.

Jessica Rice, Director of JR Events and Catering, said: “‘The last few years have been some of the most difficult in recent memory – with so many facing financial problems through to extreme isolation and loneliness.

“This event is now in its 7th year, and while times are difficult for our industry too, we simply couldn’t stand back and not help, having seen the happiness and support this event brings annually.”

Swansea Council Leader Rob Stewart said: “As the cost of living crisis continues sadly more people than ever will need support this winter but I’m proud that once again Swansea will be doing all it can to support our most vulnerable residents.

“I’d like to thank Jessica and her team for again staging Together Christmas and inviting us to work with them to stage this very special day.”

Shannon Williams, Event Manager, JR Events  & Catering , said: “Can you imagine a Christmas with little to no food, festivities, family or friends?

“This is the reality for some of Swansea’s most vulnerable people, so together with Swansea Council, we’re so proud to once again host Together at Christmas, which is an open invitation for an incredibly special afternoon.

“We’re now looking for volunteers to help at the event, services, and even entertainment – anything that can help make this the best afternoon in the season’s calendar, so please get in touch.”

To volunteer, to find out more information, or to provide a service, entertainment or donation, please contact Shannon Williams by emailing [email protected] or by phoning 01792 446017.
