Swansea primary school pupils can enjoy free entry to explore the historic Oystermouth Castle during selected after‑school sessions throughout term time.

Children wearing their Swansea school uniforms can enjoy complimentary entry when accompanied by a paying adult by visiting the ticket office on weekdays after 3pm during term time. The castle is open daily until 5pm, with last admission at 4.30pm, allowing families plenty of time to take advantage of this special after‑school opportunity.

Children under the age of five continue to enjoy free entry at all times, during school holidays and special event days. These include events such as the Teddy Bear Picnic on 25 May, where children can picnic with the delightful castle bears, and the Enchanted Fairy Trail on 18 July, where they can meet friendly fairies and silly elves.

This exciting initiative is proudly managed by the Friends of Oystermouth Castle and aims to provide an enriching, low‑cost experience for young learners to discover the fascinating history of the 12th‑century monument. The offer runs until the end of September and is available during term time only.

Tracey McNulty, Head of Cultural Services, Parks and Cleansing, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for parents, guardians, and grandparents collecting children from school to access a truly unique after‑school activity that is both educational and affordable.

“We’re thrilled that children will be able to access this offer again this year, and we’d like to thank the dedicated volunteers at the Friends of Oystermouth Castle for their passion in showcasing the castle’s rich heritage to younger generations, making initiatives like this possible.”

Overlooking the scenic Mumbles seafront and offering breathtaking views across Swansea Bay, Oystermouth Castle invites families to immerse themselves in its rich heritage. Visitors can admire 14th‑century artwork, walk across the striking 30‑foot‑high glass bridge, and explore private staircases leading from hidden vaults to former banqueting halls.

Don’t miss the chance to visit, Oystermouth Castle is open daily from 11am to 5pm, including weekends in October.
