A free event that gives participants the tools to start their own business without capital or funding is visiting Swansea this month.

The Pop-Up Business School is open to anyone wanting to start their own business and is being run in partnership with Swansea Council and local housing associations.
The life-changing week-long training course provides participants with the support and tools to start a business as well as the confidence to make the first step. Participants do not have to attend every day. However, the more they learn, the more likely they are to succeed.
The course takes place at Volcano Theatre, in High Street, from September 23-27. A similar event in the city 16 months ago attracted more than 80 budding entrepreneurs. More are expected this time.

“The city benefits greatly from the energy and ideas of people living here and there will be many new opportunities on offer in the coming years through the regeneration work of the council and the transformation we’re driving through with the £1.3bn Swansea Bay City Deal.
“The people of Swansea see their city as a place of opportunity and innovation that is hard-working and ambitious. That’s why we’re happy to support this second visit of the Pop-Up Business School.”
Liam Sibley, the Pop-Up Business School events manager, said: “We want to enable people.
“We want to give them the ability to take the first step – whether that is starting their first business, taking a company to the next level or changing their situation.
“A lot of what we are taught growing up puts barriers in front of starting your own business, and we want to break them down. We want to show people what they need to get going and remove all the fear.
“Our main focus is that people walk away happier, more confident and with better business skills. We want people to start in a risk-free way and actually doing something they are passionate about – and obviously making money too!
“If you’re not making cash it’s just a hobby. I urge the people of Swansea to come and try a day and see for themselves.”
The Pop-Up Business School, which is being delivered across the UK, helps potential entrepreneurs, small businesses and start-ups take their businesses towards their first sale.
The training schedule includes a mix of practical sessions, one-to-one coaching, workshop sessions and peer support. Workshops topics include starting a business without investment, sales and marketing, building a free website and finding customers.
The Swansea Pop-Up Business School is available free of charge to participants through sponsorship and funding from the council’s Swansea Working Initiative, Pobl, Coastal Housing and Family Housing.
