Adult learners who have had limited to access higher education can take part in free short courses at Cardiff Metropolitan University this summer.

There are over 25 courses available at the University’s Llandaff campus from 12 – 23 June 2023, ranging from access to teaching, photography and crime and social justice – to name a few.

Charlotte Arundel, Widening Access Officer, said: “The Cardiff Met Uni Summer School gives adult learners the opportunity to try a range of interesting and engaging learning opportunities, free of charge. The programme was set up over 15 years ago to help learners who may not have yet had access to higher education for a number of reasons.

“Each year we see it go from strength to strength and the courses on offer open doors for our learners, which then lead to progression onto one of our community courses and ultimately, provide a pathway to full-time of part-time study at the University.”

The Cardiff Metropolitan University Summer School is open to all adult learners over the age of 18, however priority is given to people who meet certain criteria, including those living in areas of low engagement on low incomes, facing in-work poverty, or individuals who have not yet been able to access higher education.

Cardiff Metropolitan University Widening Access Team aims to ensure that people of any age, background or ethnic group are given a fair and equal opportunity to access Higher Education.
