Fundraising volunteer gets a round of ‘appaws’ from Dogs Trust Cardiff

Dogs Trust Cardiff is shining a light on a volunteer and fundraiser who has gone the extra mile in her support for dogs across South Wales.
Since starting her volunteer journey in August 2021, Jen Pattenden has contributed a staggering 400 hours of support to Dogs Trust Cardiff. Her compassion and commitment to helping has been instrumental in helping some of the centre’s dogs find their happily ever after.
Across her time at Dogs Trust, Jen has formed a close relationship with many of the dogs awaiting their forever home, helping with training and opening her own home to seven foster dogs.
Jen’s impact goes far beyond working closely with the dogs at the rehoming centre. In March of this year, Jen single handedly organised a fundraiser at the office she works at in central Cardiff.
Across five days, the fundraiser saw dogs and staff visit the office, sharing the role of Dogs Trust in the community, all while selling raffle tickets and Dogs Trust items. Over the week, Jen raised an outstanding £2,500 for the Cardiff rehoming centre, which was spent on much needed equipment.
Speaking on Jen’s role as a volunteer, Tabitha Buckle, Volunteer Co-Ordinator said: ‘Thanks to Jen’s creativity and hard work, the funds she raised have gone on to support the dogs in our care and help them find forever homes.
‘Jen’s impact on our rehoming centre has been amazing and is a testament to all the incredible volunteers who come through the doors and donate a bit of their time to helping us find homes for our dogs.
‘Volunteers like Jen make a huge difference to the team and are so important to us, our supporters and the dogs.’
One of the dogs who has benefitted from Jen’s volunteering is, Kiko, a 9-year-old Akita Cross.
Kiko is one of the centre’s most intelligent dogs, who is ready to kickstart the next chapter in her forever home. After spending over 2,300 days in the care of Dogs Trust Cardiff, she is looking for owners who would continue her training to help her settle into a new routine and home.
Once Kiko has formed a bond, she adores company, attention and playing with her favourite toys. Kiko is available for rehoming and is looking for an adult only home to settle down in.
As the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, Dogs Trust goes the extra mile for every dog in the charity’s care to prepare them for the future they deserve as quickly as possible, so they spend less time in kennels.
