WELSH biosciences company Genesis Biosciences has won a major UK cleaning award for its innovative and eco-friendly range of cleaning products.

Genesis won the ‘Contract Innovation’ category at the Cleaning & Support Services Association (CSSA) Awards 2019 for its ground-breaking ‘Evogen Professional’ range which uses beneficial bacteria and eco-benign® chemistry instead of traditional harsh chemicals.

The CSSA Awards, which celebrate excellence across the UK contract cleaning industry, took place on Wednesday March 20 during the Cleaning Show 2019; the UK’s largest trade event focused on cleaning and hygiene. The contract innovation award was one of only four categories presented on the day alongside training, environmental and sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

    Emma Saunders

Attending the ceremony at the ExCeL in London was Genesis’ General Manager Emma Saunders. Emma said: “It was incredibly exciting to win the contract innovation award, and we have to thank the entire Genesis team in Cardiff and the US for their continued hard work and dedication. It took thousands of manhours and millions of pounds’ investment to develop our eco-benign® technology which in turn lead to the creation of this innovative product range.

“Each application specific product surpasses regular chemical solutions in three ways. They offer long term cost savings to customers as they continue to clean after application, they protect assets as they require less abrasive cleaning action, and they provide a duty of care to cleaning staff and building users through the removal of harsh cleaning chemicals.

“We have recently witnessed a surge in demand for our environmentally responsible, scientific products and, in response, have begun an ambitious facilities expansion programme that will boost our manufacturing capacity. This is a very exciting time for Genesis, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our continued commitment and innovation in the industry.”
