Greenmeadow Community Farm has appealed to parents and guardians after a number of young people were caught gaining unauthorised access to the site, warning that the behaviour poses a serious risk to both people and animals.
The working farm says it has recently experienced several incidents involving trespassers and has passed social media evidence relating to the incidents to Gwent Police.
In a statement shared on social media, the farm said it was concerned about the dangers associated with entering the site without permission.
“As a working farm, Greenmeadow has a number of inherent risks,” the statement said.
“Livestock, agricultural machinery, electric fencing, uneven ground and other hazards all have the potential to cause serious injury.”
The farm revealed that, in one incident, individuals were found inside its hay stores, describing these areas as particularly dangerous because of the risk of falls, unstable hay stacks and nearby machinery.
It also warned that entering working farm buildings can expose people to diseases that can be passed from animals to humans, as well as other hazards commonly found in agricultural environments.
Greenmeadow Community Farm is now urging parents and guardians to speak to their children about the dangers of trespassing.
The statement added: “What may seem like harmless fun can have very serious consequences for both the individuals involved and the welfare of our animals.”
The farm thanked the local community for its continued support, adding that it wants Greenmeadow to remain a safe place for everyone to enjoy while helping protect its animals, staff and visitors.
