Newport-based business finance provider Hexa Finance has announced a strategic realignment within its commercial team alongside a key new hire. The move strengthens both its direct and indirect customer channels as the business continues its rapid growth.

Effective 1 September, Daniel Barton will transition from his role as Head of Invoice Finance to become Head of Direct. In his new position, Dan will take full responsibility for the company’s direct channel, working alongside Adrian Monger, who continues to lead the indirect (supplier) channel.

In addition, Hexa has welcomed Phil Smith to its commercial team as Senior Growth Advisor. Phil brings extensive experience in business finance and a strong track record in building and leading commercial teams. At Hexa, he will play a hybrid role, supporting the continued development of customer relationships while also focusing on new opportunities across Wales, particularly north of the M4. His appointment strengthens Hexa’s presence in Wales, adding further depth to the team and reinforcing its ability to support even more businesses locally.

On joining Hexa, Phil said: “Hexa already has a strong presence in Wales and a great track record of supporting businesses directly. I’m looking forward to building on that momentum, working closely with Dan and the team, and helping even more companies access the right finance to achieve their goals.”

Stu Mason, Commercial Director, Hexa Finance, commented: “Dan has already shown huge energy and persistence in further building our direct channel, so moving into this role is a natural next step for him. With his experience, he knows how to get the right results for businesses quickly and efficiently, which is exactly what our customers value.

“Phil also brings a strong track record of building and leading successful teams, and his appointment adds further depth to the support we can offer. Having him on the ground in Wales means we can spend even more time with business owners, understanding their needs and finding the right finance solutions to help them grow.

“Our direct and indirect channels go hand in hand: the stronger each becomes, the more opportunities we have to deliver for customers. This structure gives us a solid platform to keep scaling while staying true to what matters most: helping businesses access finance with confidence.”
