Cardiff-based allergen testing business Indoor Biotechnologies has expanded its offices and laboratory facility at Vision Court in Pentwyn.

The company moved to Vision Court in 2017 and has now signed a new 10-year lease on its existing 4,500 sq ft on the ground floor and agreed to take a further 3,492 sq ft – also on the ground floor – on a 10-year lease.

Property adviser Knight Frank advised the company in the transaction, while the Vision Court landlord Office Visions Ltd was represented by Fletcher Morgan.

Indoor Biotechnologies, which was founded in 1994 by Dr Martin Chapman in Virginia, USA, now trades in more than 50 countries worldwide. Its clients include allergists and immunologists from academia, government, pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies, as well as consumers in USA, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Australasia.

Indoor Biotechnologies’ core technology is a comprehensive, proprietary portfolio of immunoassays for the detection of allergens from house dust mite, cat, dog, cockroach, mould, pollen and foods.

It has a sister company in India, with laboratory and offices in the Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre, headed up by former Cardiff University School of Medicine faculty student Dr Sivasankar Baalasubramanian, an immunology specialist and entrepreneur.

Dr James Hindley, executive director of Indoor Biotechnologies, said: “We have almost doubled the size of our UK facility in Cardiff to enable the company to better serve European customers and maintain the growth achieved in Europe in recent years.”

Mark Sutton, partner at Knight Frank, said: “Indoor Biotechnologies is a Cardiff success story and we are delighted to be able to assist James and his team in expanding their Vision Court base.”

Knight Frank is also managing the fit-out of the additional offices, tailoring the shell unit to the company’s specific requirements.

Simon Gambarini of Office Visions said: “It is great that Indoor Biotechnologies has not only taken the final unit available here but has also extended its stay here with us at Vision Court for another 10 years, thus giving testimony to the fact that the standards we offer to our tenants are spot on.  Simultaneously, Inspiretec, another of our existing tenants, has also increased its space with us.

“James Hindley and his team are extremely professional in all that they do and have, in no small way, been instrumental in helping create the family environment that exists here within Vision Court.”

Rhys Knight of Fletcher Morgan who acted on behalf of the Landlord in the letting said: “Vision Court has been developed to a very high standard.  Indoor Biotechnologies commitment to additional long term space is a testament to the quality of office accommodation developed by Office Visions.”
