Judi Rhys appointed Tenovus Cancer Care Chief Executive

Tenovus Cancer Care is delighted to announce the appointment of Judi Rhys as the charity’s new chief executive.

She takes up the role today (Monday 20th May) and replaces Claudia McVie, who steps down later this month after 12 years in charge of Wales’ leading cancer charity.

Judi Rhys said: “It is such a privilege to be chosen as the new chief executive of Tenovus Cancer Care.

“It’s a charity I have admired for many years and I am really excited about working alongside a fantastic team of staff, volunteers and supporters to continue and build on the excellent work to date.”

Born and bred in Wales, she joins Tenovus Cancer Care from Cancer Research Wales, where she became the charity’s first chief executive.

Before Cancer Research Wales, Rhys held chief executive positions with the British Liver Trust and Arthritis Care, as well as senior roles at the MS Society and Diabetes UK. She is also a non-executive director of Public Health Wales and Sport Wales.

She has won a number of Third Sector awards including the Fundraising Team of the Year in 2016 and in 2015 she achieved an ACEVO Fellowship award. More recently, in recognition of her achievements and distinction in her field, Rhys has been included in this year’s edition of Who’s Who.

Professor Malcolm Mason, Tenovus Cancer Care Chair of Trustees, commented: “We are delighted to be able to appoint Judi as our new chief executive.

“She brings an extensive amount of Third Sector experience to the role and is the perfect person to take the charity forward.”
