Kindle House, the independent boutique store in Ystradgynlais has beaten off stiff competition from across the UK to be crowned the People’s Winner of Save The High Street’s Britain’s Best Shop Window Competition.

The inspiration for their winning design came during a trip to one of their suppliers back in January. Owner, Emma Purvis said “Our supplier had built a full-size house front in their show-room to display their products, we took one look at it and thought, that’s our Christmas Window!”

Their current Christmas display is the first one where they’ve enlisted the help of retired D&T teacher, Darryl Williams. “We’re all pretty good at DIY at Kindle House, but we knew we needed some help with this one. It’s amazing how far people have travelled just to see our window, we’ve been told on more than one occasion that it rivals Harrods! We couldn’t be more delighted.” Said Emma.

The team at Kindle House managed to have two of their window displays shortlisted in the competition this year and are already busy planning for 2019.

It’s another great win for Ystradgynlais, who this year have also won Best Town in their Wales in Bloom category. While the news is full of doom and gloom on the highstreets, it couldn’t be further from the truth in Ystradgynlais. This little Town on the edge of the Brecon Beacons is thriving.
