Cardiff Council has confirmed detailed travel arrangements and road closures for the upcoming Guinness Men’s Six Nations matches at the Principality Stadium, with disruption expected across the city centre on match days.

After the closures for Wales v France on February 15, the next fixture against Scotland this Saturday (February 21) will see roads around the stadium shut from 12.30pm until 9pm, as part of safety measures for supporters and local traffic. Kick-off is at 4.40pm.

Major closures will also be in place for Wales v Italy on Saturday March 14, listed as running at the same times.

Traffic around Cardiff and on the M4 motorway is expected to be busy on both match days, and motorists are being urged to plan journeys in advance.

To help avoid congestion, the council is encouraging people to use the Park & Ride facility at the Vindico Arena car park on International Drive in Cardiff Bay (CF11 0JS). For the Scotland match:

    • Car park opens at 9.30am
    • First bus departs at 10am
    • Last bus from the city centre runs at 7.30pm

Event parking will also be available at Sophia Gardens and the Civic Centre for those driving into the city.

Cardiff’s full city centre closure affects many key routes around the stadium on each fixture day, with streets such as Castle Street, St Mary Street, High Street, Westgate Street, Central Square and Duke Street shut to traffic as roads are prepared and controlled for safety.

Road closures come into effect from early in the morning on match days to allow space for crowd management and queuing systems ahead of kick-off.

Those planning to travel by public transport should also expect changes, including car park closures at Cardiff Central and closure of Cardiff Bus Interchange in line with road restrictions on February 21.

Supporters are advised to arrive early, check travel options and allow extra time for journeys into Cardiff city centre on match days.
