The IP Wales Cluster meeting, which is set to take place at the University of South Wales on Tuesday, will bring together global specialists from across the digital crime investigation and enforcement industry.

The event, hosted by specialist Cardiff anti-piracy consultancy CJCH Solicitors, will see intellectual property crime experts share their knowledge and experiences in a bid to tackle the growing threat from software theft and piracy.

Renowned speakers will include partner and head of the software anti-piracy team at Shanghai-based law firm Han Yuan & Partners, Zhenhao Wei; chairman of the International IP Crime Investigators College (IIPCIC) a division of Interpol, Michael Ellis; and head of operations at Cardiff’s specialist anti-piracy consultancy CJCH Solicitors, Luke Heydenrych.

Mr Heydenrych, who is currently undertaking extensive research into software piracy and intellectual property cyber crime as part of his doctorate of Law at Swansea University, said he was “honoured” to be speaking at the prestigious event.

He said: “The IP Wales Cluster will bring together some leading experts in the fields of  legal prosecution and law enforcement in relation to copyright infringement and illicit trade, so it is my privilege to have been asked to speak at this pertinent conference.

“It is our honour to also welcome Zhenhao Wei, from our Shanghai partner firm Han Yuan & Partners to Wales as a highly anticipated speaker at the conference, along with leading expert in IP crime investigation, IIPCIC chairman Michael Ellis.

“With cyber crime and intellectual property infringement becoming more sophisticated and posing a growing threat on the global stage, it is now more imperative than ever that we combine our expertise to help tackle this crime.

“Despite popular belief, cyber and software crime does not simply affect major corporations and businesses globally, it affects ordinary people across all cross sections of society and can have devastating consequences. So, it is vital that we continue to raise awareness of this covert crime and fight collaboratively to eradicate it.”

CJCH Solicitors has been leading the fight against software piracy and intellectual property theft from its Cardiff office for almost a decade.

The firm’s specialist anti-piracy and licence compliance team have gained an internationally renowned reputation after recouping millions of euros for clients in recent years and working with leading international businesses including Dassault Systemes.
