Matthew Jones aged 29 from Llanrumney was jailed following an investigation by Cardiff & Vale OCT
At an earlier hearing Jones plead guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin, crack cocaine, cocaine, and cannabis. As well as possessing criminal property and driving with no licence & no insurance.
After seizing a mobile phone as part of a separate investigation, officers from the Cardiff & Vale organised crime team identified a Snapchat conversation of interest. The people involved in that conversation discussed the sale of large amounts of Class A & B drugs, as well as the large profits the organised crime group were making from their criminal activity.
As a result of the investigation Jones was identified as one of the people involved in that chat, he received daily updates on how sales were progressing and how much money was being made. Jones was then found to be playing a leading role within the organised crime group, who were flooding the streets of Llanrumney with Class A & B drugs.
Jones admitted to his involvement in the supply of 466 grams of heroin, 1kg of cocaine, and 3kgs of cannabis
On Friday June 27, 2025, at Cardiff Crown Court, Jones was sentenced to six years and nine months imprisonment and received a four-year driving ban.

“There is zero-tolerance for drug supply on our streets and our organised crime team are committed to identifying and apprehending those involved”
