A law firm with an office in Cardiff has raised more than £1,000 for Cerebral Palsy Cymru with a 100th anniversary-themed fundraiser.
Staff at Thompsons Solicitors, which has offices on Greyfriars Road raised £1,065 for the charity, which aims to improve the quality of life for all children in Wales living with cerebral palsy by offering specialist therapy, services and expert knowledge.
The ‘100 repetitions’ fundraising challenge stemmed from the social justice law firm turning 100 this year.
Staff took part in a number of challenges, including walking 100,000 steps, surfing 100 waves and baking 100 cookies.
Cath Cladingbowl, regional manager for Wales at Thompsons Solicitors, said: “I am incredibly proud of the team for completing their individual challenges and having fun along the way.
“Fundraising has been almost impossible during the pandemic, but this just goes to show there are ways you can get involved and motivate each other to achieve great things.”
Cerebral palsy is the most common physical childhood disability in the world, and there are an estimated 30,000 children living with cerebral palsy in the UK today. Cerebral palsy results from damage to the brain that occurs during pregnancy, around the time of birth, or within the first two years after birth.
Thompsons has been fighting for the injured and mistreated since 1921 and, unlike other personal injury law firms, they only ever represent the injured and mistreated, never employers or insurers.
Ms Cladingbowl added: “Throughout the history of Thompsons, we have made a commitment to stand up for those who need our help the most, and this extends to our fundraising work. Cerebral Palsy Cymru does a great job of supporting children and families across Wales living with cerebral palsy.
