South Wales Police have confirmed that the M4 is currently closed in the eastbound direction between junction 38 for Margam and junction 37 for Pyle.

The closure is in place due to ongoing emergency roadworks and is expected to remain during daylight hours. There is currently no confirmed timescale for when the carriageway will reopen.

Traffic is being diverted via the A48 at Pyle, and drivers are being urged to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “The M4 at junction 38 for Margam to junction 37 Pyle is closed in the eastbound direction due to ongoing roadworks. The closure will remain in place during the daylight hours, and there is no known timescale for the re-opening of the carriageway. Traffic is diverted to the A48 at Pyle. Please avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. We’re grateful for your patience.”

Traffic Wales has also issued an update, saying: “The M4 is currently closed between J38 Margam and J37 Pyle eastbound due to emergency works. This closure is expected to be in place throughout the morning (05/11/25). Please plan ahead to avoid delays.”

Motorists are advised to check for the latest travel updates before setting off.
