With Easter on the Horizon, the Times Newspaper has named Margam Country Park’s adventure playground as one of the best in the UK.

The newspaper has honoured it as one of Britain’s seven best adventure playgrounds alongside the likes of Wildplay at Keswick, Cumbria, Lilidorei (the world’s largest play structure) in the grounds of Alnwick Castle, Northumberland, and Tudor Towers in Kent.

The Times says of the Neath Port Talbot attraction (best for children aged six to 12): “A mini castle with a watchtower and a huge slide are the standouts at this adventure playground, while younger children will fall under the spell of the fairytale village full of miniature houses.

“With the castle, steam train and lake to kayak across, it’s easy to spend a whole day here. Keep your eyes peeled for the herd of deer roaming the parkland too.”

Neath Port Talbot Council’s Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Wellbeing, Cllr Jeremy Hurley, said: “It’s good to be recognised by one of Britain’s best known national newspapers and this accolade is a credit to all involved in the planning and running of this popular adventure playground.

“Neath Port Talbot as a whole has a lot to offer visitors this Easter with its waves and waterfalls, mountains, rivers and valleys, – they all provide a natural adventure playground for a range of activities.

“Our mountain biking routes in the Afan Valley of course are also some of the toughest but most exhilarating, in the UK. And this article is a good reminder of what is on offer at one of our best known attractions, Margam Country Park.”
