There’s only one chance to give someone the best possible end of life, which is why Marie Curie, the UK’s leading end of life charity, is calling on people in South Wales support its 40th Great Daffodil Appeal by joining a family-friendly daffodil trail.

To help highlight the charity’s work and celebrate the flagship fundraiser, which takes place throughout February and March, families and supporters are encouraged to join the Daffodil Trail at Morgan Quarter this February half term, in exchange for a donation – collecting jigsaw pieces across the site to create a daffodil image made by local artist Bethan Richards.

The activity will launch on Monday, February 16 and run throughout the week, with leaflets and stickers available from Pen and Paper for families to collect, before spotting the jigsaw pieces in independent stores throughout the arcade and matching them to the stickers provided.  Once the jigsaw is complete, a print of the image will be available to pick up at the final store.

If you can’t make the Daffodil Trail, you can still support the Great Daffodil Appeal by doing your own Go Yellow fundraiser.   Get together with friends, family and colleagues to bake a yellow treat, dress in something yellow, or choose your own activity to turn yellow. When you sign up, Marie Curie will provide you with everything you need to make going yellow as easy as possible.

The Great Daffodil Appeal, which also sees volunteers collecting across high streets and supermarkets, helps raise much needed funds so that Marie Curie Nurses and healthcare professionals can provide expert support and hospice care in the comfort of home.

Funds raised also support the charity’s free Information and Support service, which is available to anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from and those close to them, offering practical and emotional support.

Hannah Warner-Holt Marie Curie Community Fundraiser for Cardiff and the Vale, said:

“We believe everyone deserves expert end of life care. Go Yellow for the Great Daffodil Appeal is an easy and fun way to join in and give back to our local community here in Cardiff whilst also helping us continue to bring vital hospice care to more people.

“Whether you host a yellow themed fundraiser or turn your hobby into something yellow which can raise money, do your thing this February and March to raise money for the UK’s leading end of life charity.

“By getting involved and fundraising for Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal, you will be doing something incredible and helping us to deliver services to those people with any illness they are likely to die from and their loved ones.

“The Great Daffodil Appeal only comes around once a year, so why not get in touch and be part of something that makes a real difference.”
