Free bus travel for residents will be returning this summer as part of a major new investment from Swansea Council to benefit hard-pressed families and communities.
Being made available during the summer school holidays and the main school holidays at Christmas and Easter, the free bus travel is among a package of support the council is providing.

Other schemes being funded by the £4.53m boost over the next year include:
    • Continued improvement of bus shelters
    • The continued replacement of old litter and dog mess bins
    • Further investment in road repairs
    • More dropped kerbs in areas of high footfall
    • Continued extra resources for drainage teams to reduce chances of flooding issues in communities
    • £1m for targeted projects in areas of most need
Improvements to more city playgrounds will be undertaken and nature trails will be introduced in targeted areas.
A study could also be carried out to fund the design and installation of a suitable memorial to recognise those who lost their lives from Covid, while celebrating the dedication of key workers during the pandemic.
Cllr Rob Stewart, Swansea Council Leader, said: “This investment will be targeted where it’s most needed to benefit as many residents and communities in Swansea as possible.
“We know that issues like bins and the condition of our roads are priorities for local people, so extra investment in improvements and repairs will continue.
“Free bus travel in Swansea will also be available again for local people during the forthcoming school summer holidays as we continue to do all we can to support residents during the cost of living crisis.
“All schemes forming part of this £4.53m investment are being funded by the council’s economic recovery fund, with money having been set-aside for priority areas over the next year.”
Other schemes covered by the investment include developing sheltered spaces for teenagers with mobile phone charging facilities powered by renewable energy.
Money will also be invested in new CCTV equipment as part of measures of reduce anti-social behaviour in city communities.
