The UK’s only distillery located within a castle has appointed a new Head of On trade & Wholesale, Tom Sutton, as the company continues to expand its presence across the UK drinks industry.

Hensol Castle Distillery, one of the UK’s premier craft distilleries situated in the heart of South Wales, has welcomed Tom Sutton into the role of Head of On trade & Wholesale.

Tom brings more than 15 years of experience within the drinks and hospitality industry, having worked with a number of major brands including Halewood Artisanal Spirts, Nohrlund Organic Cocktails and Cardrona Distillery. Throughout his career, Tom has developed a strong network across the UK on-trade sector, particularly throughout Wales and the South West, alongside extensive knowledge of spirits, cocktails and brand development.

Part of Tom’s new role will be to extend the reach of Hensol Castle Distillery’s own products, including the award-winning range of gins, rum and other spirits, with a focus on increasing listings across both the on-trade and retail sectors.

Tom will also play a key role in growing the distillery’s contract bottling division. The distillery currently produces over 300 SKUs for more than 60 clients, with agreements spanning gin, vodka, whisky, rum, tequila, vermouth and liquor brands for UK, European and American clients.

Chris Leeke, Managing Director of Hensol Castle Distillery, said:

“We’re very excited to have welcome Tom to the team. His extensive background within the drinks industry, alongside his knowledge of the on-trade sector and brand development, made him the standout candidate for the role.

“Hensol Castle Distillery continues to go from strength to strength, with our own product range continuing to expand alongside growing demand for our contract bottling services. Tom’s experience, relationships and passion for the industry will be hugely valuable as we continue to scale the business and grow the Hensol Castle Distillery brand.”

    Tom Sutton added:

“Hensol Castle Distillery has built an incredible reputation within the industry, not only for its award-winning spirits, but also for the quality and innovation behind its contract bottling operation.

“It’s a really exciting time to be joining the business, and I’m looking forward to helping grow the brand further, building new partnerships and bringing Hensol Castle Distillery products to even more customers across the UK.”
