It has been confirmed, during the first meeting of the new Council, that Councillor Bryan Davies from Plaid Cymru group will be the new Leader for Ceredigion County Council.

The meeting was held on Friday, 13 May 2022, in the Council Chamber and this was the first meeting of the Council in its new administration following the Local Elections held on 05 May 2022.

The Leader of Ceredigion County Council, Councillor Bryan Davies, said as he accepted the role: “I would like to thank everyone for their support, and I promise to do my best for the people of Ceredigion and the county. There is no denying that there are difficult times ahead but through discussion and collaboration we can put the interests of the county first. I would also like to welcome every newly elected member and thank everyone who was part of the previous administration. We have a great range of voices and talents in this Council, and I would like to wish Ceredigion County Council well during the new administration.”

The Chairman of Ceredigion County Council, Paul Hinge, added: “Many congratulations to the new Leader. I look forward to working alongside you and each and every one of the new elected Councillors during this new term.”

The newly elected Councillors were present to make a Declaration of Acceptance of Office and a commitment to comply with the Code of Conduct.
