A brand-new outdoor escape adventure is coming to the streets of Newtown this September, giving families, friends and visitors the chance to follow a trail of puzzles, uncover local history and solve the mystery of a very special Bara Brith recipe.
Crumb Busters, created by Mid Wales escape-game specialists Beyond Breakout in collaboration with Newtown Food Festival, will officially launch during the popular Newtown Food Festival on September 5 and 6. Providing an extra reason to get involved, the first 100 teams can play completely free!
At the heart of Crumb Busters is one of Newtown’s most famous pioneers, Robert Owen. Players are recruited to help uncover his precious family Bara Brith recipe, which has been hidden away behind a series of fun and quirky puzzles.
Using their phones, teams will explore Newtown, follow clues and complete challenges as they work their way towards the missing recipe.
The game is a mixture of treasure hunt, escape game and local adventure with plenty of opportunities for teamwork, laughter and a little bit of detective work along the way.
Beyond Breakout, creators of a growing range of outdoor and digital escape adventures, have developed the game in partnership with Newtown Food Festival, who have generously funded the first 100 free team plays as part of the launch celebrations.

To claim a free game, players simply need to visit Lorna and Jo from Beyond Breakout at their stall on High Street on Saturday, during the Newtown Food Festival.
The first 100 teams will receive a code to play Crumb Busters free of charge. Each team can then set off on their Newtown adventure using their own phones.
Following the festival, Crumb Busters will remain available at www.beyondbreakout.co.uk/book as a pay-and-play experience for £36 per team, making it a new year-round attraction for families, visitors and locals looking for something different to do in Newtown.
