More than 30 new homes will be delivered in Carmarthenshire as the next phases of two residential developments move forward with over £7.5 million of funding from the Development Bank of Wales.
The funding will support Phase 3 of developments in Carmarthen and St Clears, helping Mentrus Developments and Solitaire Homes bring forward high-quality homes that meet local demand while creating opportunities for local contractors, tradespeople and suppliers across the county.
Mentrus Developments has secured £1.8 million through the Development Bank’s Wales Residential Property Fund together with funding from the Green Development Incentive to deliver the third phase of its Maes y Teirw development in Carmarthen. Located on a 2.2-acre brownfield site, the next phase will provide seven energy-efficient homes, continuing the transformation of a former industrial site into a sustainable residential neighbourhood.
A further £5.7 million will support Phase 3 of Solitaire‘s Priory Fields development in St Clears. The funding will enable the family-owned developer to build 24 additional homes, including seven affordable properties. Once complete, the three phases of the development will deliver a total of 76 homes. Construction is being led by Obsidian Homes – a fast-growing housebuilder which now employs some 40 local people in West Wales.
