Residents and visitors travelling between Lampeter and Aberystwyth will benefit from a new Saturday bus service, ensuring communities along the 585 route remain connected at weekends.
Ceredigion County Council has commissioned the service to ensure continued connectivity following a lack of commercial interest from bus operators in running a Saturday service on the route.
Working closely with local transport providers, the Council has developed a practical and sustainable solution using a minibus to maintain links between communities and provide access to key destinations including Lampeter, Tregaron and Aberystwyth.
The service will help residents access employment, education, shopping, healthcare and leisure opportunities, while supporting those who rely on public transport to travel throughout the county.
The introduction of the service demonstrates the Council’s commitment to maintaining essential transport links and supporting rural communities, despite ongoing challenges facing the wider bus network.
Councillor Shelley Childs, Ceredigion County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Environmental Services, said: “Public transport plays a vital role in helping people access work, education, services and social opportunities. We are pleased to be introducing this new Saturday service, ensuring that communities along the 585 route remain connected and have access to key destinations across the county.
