Newport City Council has announced a new fund to support community organisations in the city.
The communities and grassroots sports fund will support voluntary and community organisations, social enterprises, and grassroots sports clubs.

The funding was announced at last week’s meeting of the council’s cabinet. Applications to the fund will be opening very soon on the council’s website.

“Our aim with this fund is to support as many different organisations in Newport as possible,” said Councillor Dimitri Batrouni, leader of the council.

“We’ve helped hundreds of community groups over the past couple of years through our previous community grant schemes, and I’m delighted that we’re able to continue to support groups this year.

“I would encourage any eligible group to send us an application as soon as possible. We know they have great ideas for projects, and we want to support you bring those ideas to life.”

Applications for the new fund will open soon, with full guidance and eligibility criteria set to be published on Newport City Council’s website.

The council is encouraging organisations to keep an eye on its website and social media channels over the coming weeks for updates. Once applications open, the Local Growth Fund team will also be available to offer advice and support via email at [email protected].
